  Dr Satish qualifies in medicine at Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore University, after a course begun in 1971. The degree is awarded on 27 April 1978.
• 1983MD in Dermatology and Venereology at AIIMS, New Delhi
  Three years of postgraduate resident training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, under Dr L K Bhutani, Dr J S Pasricha and Dr R K Pandhi. His MD thesis studies the therapeutic and immunological aspects of vitiligo.
• 1984–1992Assistant Professor of Dermatology, M S Ramaiah Medical College
  Nine years teaching undergraduate dermatology in Bengaluru.
